Have you ever felt like no matter how hard you try, you just can’t seem to reach the next level? You set intentions, you visualize success, you put in the work—yet something always seems to be in the way. That “something” might be resistance.
What is Resistance?
Resistance is the subconscious force that keeps you stuck in old patterns, afraid of stepping into something new. It’s the inner voice that whispers, “This is too good to be true,” or “What if I fail?” It shows up as procrastination, self-doubt, fear of success, or even sabotaging opportunities right before they manifest.
Resistance isn’t always loud. Sometimes, it’s hidden in our excuses, distractions, and unconscious beliefs. It can look like:
🚧 Saying you want financial abundance but feeling uncomfortable receiving money.
🚧 Dreaming of love but pushing people away when they get too close.
🚧 Longing for more success but avoiding visibility and opportunities.
Why Do We Resist What We Want?
At its core, resistance is self-protection. Your subconscious mind prioritizes safety over growth, even if that means keeping you in struggle. If you’ve spent years in survival mode, anything unfamiliar—even something positive—can feel unsafe to your nervous system.
We often resist because:
🔹 Fear of change – Even good changes bring uncertainty, and the unknown can feel scary.
🔹 Deep-seated beliefs – If you grew up believing you had to work hard for everything, ease can feel suspicious.
🔹 Emotional attachments – Sometimes, we hold onto struggle because it’s familiar, or we’ve tied our identity to it.
How to Release Resistance and Step into Flow
If resistance is keeping you stuck, here’s how to shift:
✨ Become Aware of It – Notice when you hesitate, procrastinate, or feel discomfort around the things you desire. Awareness is the first step.
✨ Ask Yourself: What Am I Afraid Of? – Often, resistance is masking a deeper fear. Journal on this: What feels unsafe about getting what I want?
✨ Regulate Your Nervous System – Your body needs to feel safe to receive. Try deep breathing, EFT tapping, or energy clearings to release tension.
✨ Clear Old Stories – Reframe limiting beliefs. Instead of Success means struggle, affirm I welcome ease and expansion.
✨ Take Small Steps Toward What You Want – The more you prove to yourself that ease is safe, the more resistance will dissolve.
